Designmatters’ newest publication, LEAP Dialogues: Career Pathways in Design for Social Innovation, was officially celebrated on May 10, 2016, at a launch party held at the Autodesk Gallery in San Francisco.

Hosted by the Autodesk Foundation, lead funder and content partner for LEAP Dialogues, the event brought together several of the book’s contributors, as well as partners, friends and colleagues, for a special preview and discussion of the book and design for social innovation.

The evening’s program included a welcome from Joe Speicher, Executive Director of the Autodesk Foundation, and an introduction by Mariana Amatullo, Vice President of Designmatters and Lead Editor of LEAP Dialogues. Their remarks were followed by a dynamic discussion between moderator and Editor of LEAP Bryan Boyer and four contributors of the book: Valerie Casey, Cyd Harrell, Renuka Kher and David Sherwin. The panel discussed issues brought up in their pieces in the book, including the roles of metrics and data, the craft of design to surface the human elements of that data, the power of design as a tool to address inequity and inclusion, and raising the bar on co-creation in practice. The event concluded with guests receiving advance copies of the book and poster, designed by TwoPoints.Net.

Additional Fall events for the book will be announced shortly. Please visit the publication’s website for more information.

LEAP Dialogues will be available from DAP/Distributed Arts Publisher in Fall 2016.   To pre-order or to receive an alert when the book is available, please email orders@artbook.com.
