“What can I do, as an informed storyteller and visual artist, to effect change? This is one of those significant and recurrent questions our students have the opportunity to wrestle with.” Elisa Ruffino, Director, Designmatters Department

Public Service Announcements

Public Service Announcements (PSAs) and public service campaigns represent an important and award-winning body of work within the Designmatters portfolio of projects and collaborations. Whether they raise general awareness or provide a specific call to action, these PSAs are often broadcast worldwide through multi-media channels secured by Designmatters partners and carry timely messages intended to mobilize public opinion and provoke change.
arkstorm

The ARkStorm, a short film

Created by Art Center alumnus Theo Alexopoulos for the United States Geological Survey (USGS) this short motion graphic film explores the very real potential for a catastrophic winter storm in California, which scientists are calling The ARkStorm. The film was featured in January 2011 at the opening of the USGS ARkStorm Summit in Sacramento, an event which convened emergency managers, regulatory and scientific agencies, policymakers, business leaders, and other experts from the public and private sector to forge a plan-of-action for addressing and mitigating this expected storm scenario.
